Background
How we started
Started by Ben Griffiths, Rolling Project is the name Ben and his father gave to every machine they built or restored together. From a Triumph GT6 to a TE20 Ferguson tractor, each project earned the title “Rolling Project” because everything they created was meant to be driven, used, and enjoyed—a continuous endeavour to experience the best of what motoring has to offer.
“For me, motoring has always been an escape—a place filled with memories. Growing up with chronic kidney disease, it became somewhere I could forget hospital results and lose myself in learning, fixing, and facing new challenges, whether it was a small bulb change or welding a chassis.”
In 2016, Ben moved from rural Wales to Cardiff. Leaving behind the workshop, tools, and ongoing builds, he brought a camera instead—attending events to stay connected with motoring. This moment sparked Rolling Project’s online beginnings as an Instagram page for his photography, originally named ‘Coido’ (meaning Flat Out in Welsh). While living in Cardiff, Ben studied Graphic Communication and Design and went on to establish Griffiths Graphics Ltd. Editorial design quickly became his passion—the world of magazines, books, posters, and printed storytelling.
“As a child, I spent hours with Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, but I also loved looking through my grandfather’s magazines—Vintage Spirit, Old Glory—studying the photos and sketching steam engines and classic machinery. Editorial design captured that same nostalgia for me, but also offered endless possibilities for storytelling.”
In 2021, when COVID-19 cancelled all motoring events, photography work halted. Yet this pause opened the next chapter for Rolling Project.
“I had thousands of photographs and wanted to create something meaningful from them. I’d collected editorial motoring books like Road Rat, and my favourite at the time—Sunday Motoring Club—which inspired the idea of starting my own printed magazine. That was the beginning of the next step.”
Rolling Project began producing annual printed magazines and working with individuals, teams, brands, and businesses on bespoke print and photography projects. In 2022, their work was recognised with an International Automotive Award.
Today, Rolling Project is a creative brand dedicated to celebrating motoring culture through print.
We collaborate with restoration businesses and collectors to produce custom prints and owner’s manuals, document road trips and events for brands and clubs, and create bespoke artwork for proud owners—whether the passion is a project car, race car, motorcycle, lorry, or steam engine.
We welcome any mode of transport.
